The Marconi Cultural Event Centre was the place to be on Saturday night as the Sault Area Hospital Foundation presented their Gala.

The sold out event hosted a crowd who were out in their finest and ready for some fun. After a four-year hiatus, the timing was right for guests to see and be seen. The evening started with a sparkle as Andrew Hallett (#123) won a diamond necklace generously donated by Savoy’s Jewellers and Ida Bruno (#88) and Michaela Febbraro (#111) both won $100 Savoy’s Jewellers gift cards in the event’s Diamond Necklace Lottery (Licence M834653).

Next, a lively auction lead by local legend Vern Bailey provided endless entertainment. Items up for bid included: a handmade cedar strip canoe; an evening of Illusion with Ryan McFarling; a gourmet dining experience at Peace; two beautiful Eileen Halfpenny watercolours; centre ice Maple Leaf hockey tickets; a McGuffin-lead canoe excursion on Lake Superior; and – a highlight of the evening – a selection of locally made salamis stole the show. Guests couldn’t resist raising their paddles in response to Bailey’s entertaining encouragement.

The party didn’t stop there. James Case and the Aces got the crowd up, and had them dancing the night away.

“It was wonderful to feel the support for Sault Area Hospital Foundation in the room at the Marconi on Saturday night,” said Teresa Martone Executive Director, Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “While we’re still tallying the proceeds, I can confidently say this gala has been incredibly successful, raising over $100,000 for local cancer care at Sault Area Hospital. Thank you to the hundreds of people who supported this event with donations of auction items, ticket purchases, sponsorships and so much more.”
