Local support makes cancer care more comfortable

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Algoma District Cancer Program (ADCP) at Sault Area Hospital has 15 new treatment chairs!

ADCP patients like Louis Pelletier have never been so comfortable, thanks to a new set of treatment chairs that arrived this spring.

While these treatment chairs look a bit like a living room recliner, they are specialized furniture for a hospital setting. They are made from durable materials so they can stand up to daily use and thorough cleaning.

While the chairs are made to last, they're also made for comfort during long treatments. The new chairs are remote-controlled, so patients can adjust their position at any time. Some patients have even fallen asleep during their treatments!

Not only are the new chairs better for patients, but they're also more ergonomic for nurses. With the previous chairs, nurses often had to help with manual positioning. Now, with the push of a button, patients can relax and adjust as needed.

Local support is making more comfortable cancer care possible at Sault Area Hospital.

"We were so excited to get these chairs! They have made such a difference for our patients. Thank you to the donors that make this possible!" - Amanda Lavoie, Registered Nurse
