IN CONVERSATION WITH...

DR. PAT ZEHR

Dr. Pat Zehr published her first book during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Beatles, Babies and Broken Bodies, which looks at what it means to be a frontline healthcare worker in Canada. Her outstanding biography is now followed by a new novel, Peggy was Right, which is a fictional story, based on the current crisis of reproductive healthcare and autonomy. Dr. Zehr draws on her personal experience in writing the story about Peggy, an Ontario nurse who seeks employment in Texas - focusing on issues in reproductive rights.

BOOK: PEGGY WAS RIGHT

A must-read for anyone who has navigated the turbulent waters of healthcare, felt the sting of systemic indifference or fought for the right to make choices about their own body.

Peggy was Right takes a nuanced look at the 'abortion debate', unfolding it in ways where hope, human rights, pain, personal dignity and ultimately resilience continually reshape the narrative. It invites readers to look beyond headlines and political rhetoric to see the human stories at the heart of our collective experience.
