On January 31st at 11am, Lisa Whitmell of Goulais River, ON won $27,795 in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation’s (SAHF) January electronic and online 50/50 draw. One of her numbers, C-5413529, was drawn electronically and her ticket was validated before noon.
“I saw the post on Facebook earlier in the month and bought a ticket. As the prize was growing near the end, it wasn’t $9,999 I was hoping to win, but nearly $20,000, so I bought another one. My second ticket ended up winning.” Lisa explains. “I just thought it was such a great idea. I was able to purchase online, get a chance at a really great cash prize and support my local hospital; I saw no reason not to support.” Throughout the first three draws, 60% of all sales have come through online purchases.
When Lisa validated her ticket she was less than an hour into learning she was $27,795 richer. She was excited to head out to camp and spend the weekend thinking about what she was going to spend her winnings on. She indicated that she wanted to pay off her vehicle but for the remainder, she needed some time to dream.

SAHF’s February 50/50 draw is on sale now! The prize is guaranteed at $9,999, but the past two months have seen the prize grow over $27,000 in time for each draw. The draw will take place on February 28th at 11am. Tickets will be available for purchase until February 27th at 9PM.
