Dear Friends of the Sault Area Hospital Foundation,

We are pleased to report a successful year at the Foundation as we were able to disburse over $1.5 million from the Annual Fund towards the clinical documentation project and to purchase equipment for the Operating Room, Urology, Orthopaedics, Maternity Child Care, Matthews Memorial and Thessalon Hospitals. Over $19.5 million was disbursed from the New Hospital Fund. This was only accomplished because of the generosity of our community of donors for which we are very grateful.

The Foundation office moved into the new hospital in February and is continuing to invest in advancing healthcare by fundraising for capital equipment needs that the hospital has identified for 2011-2012.

With the move into our new state-of-the-art facility, some of the older equipment that was still operational, was brought over. There will be a continuous need for funds to ensure that the newest and most advanced equipment is purchased. This equipment is an essential part of recruiting and retaining physicians and is vital to provide quality care to the patients we serve.

This past fiscal year 2010-2011, was very busy as we prepared for the transition to our new site. The first annual "Putting on the Glitz" event was held in November in the lobby of the new hospital and those in attendance were given a sneak preview after substantial completion.

The Foundation was also proud to unveil our donor recognition elements in the new hospital, which are now located on Level two in the main public corridor. All of the donor names on the Beacon of Hope, Celebration of Life and "Building a Bridge to the Future" Legacy Society recognition walls were transferred. We are now very pleased to offer naming and recognition opportunities throughout the hospital at $25,000 and over.
