Jerry Tombari wins $55,105 in the May SAHF 50/50 Draw

On May 30 2025, Jerry Tombari of Sault Ste. Marie, ON won a $55,105 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) May 50/50 draw. Jerry’s lucky number (M-23936156) was drawn electronically, and he was called immediately.
When Jerry picked up the phone he couldn’t believe that he actually won the grand prize! “$55,105? You’ve got to be kidding, right? Wow, that’s terrific!” he exclaimed. Jerry quickly put us on speakerphone so his wife, Joan, could hear too. The couple was so excited they even called back later to make sure they heard it right.
The win came at a perfect time as Jerry was getting ready for a week-long fishing trip. He’s still deciding on what to do with his winnings – but new fishing gear may be in his future. When we asked why he supports the SAHF 50/50, Jerry said “It’s important for us to support the hospital. It’s our number one charity. We’re all getting older and we know that the hospital will be there when we need it.”
Jerry wasn’t the only winner this month – May’s Early Bird, Stephanie Riel of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, was the lucky winner of $10,000 on May 15th 2025 with ticket M-13461987.
“Calling winners each month is the kind of excitement that never gets old. Some people know exactly why we’re calling. Others, like Jerry, can hardly believe the news,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director for Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “We’re so thankful for people like Jerry, and everyone who plays SAHF lotteries. Every ticket purchased helps support the purchase of critical medical equipment for our hospital.”

Don’t forget – you can also purchase SAHF 50/50 and Split the Pot tickets at select convenience stores including Our Place Confectionary, Krazy Ernies, Paquette’s Confectionary, Millies Mini-Mart, New York News in Station Mall, The Airways General Store LTD, and Metallo’s Mini Mart. Providing your contact information at the checkout is optional – so remember to keep your ticket in case it’s a lucky winner.
Tickets are 10 for $10; 60 for $20; 200 for $40; or 750 for $75. In addition to online sales at www.soolottery.ca, tickets can be purchased in person at select convenience stores and Sault Area Hospital Foundation Office (750 Great Northern Road) from 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Ticket buyers must be 18 years of age or older and in the province of Ontario to play.
