Supporting Our Youngest Patients:
Push Ups For Paediatrics
This November, Casey Wright is taking on the challenge of completing 22,000 Push-Ups in support of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Sault Area Hospital (SAH).
Now in his sixth year, Casey Wright’s annual challenge is about pushing people to do something they haven't done, commit to something hard, and figure out what they’re capable of.
Over time, Casey's challenge has grown into an opportunity to raise awareness about causes close to his heart. “The overall goal of this challenge will continue to be to push people to do something they haven’t done. To challenge them to commit to something hard. As much as financial donations are appreciated, physical donations during this month will create impact. Choosing to do hard things prepares us for the hard things we don’t get to choose.“ – Casey Wright
Inspired by his family’s NICU journey, Casey is dedicating this year’s challenge to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Sault Area Hospital. Funds raised will help to provide essential equipment and support for our hospital’s youngest patients and their families.

“By voluntarily doing hard things, you make unexpected difficulties a little bit easier.”
— Casey Wright

A Personal Journey. A Purpose Close to Home.
Every family’s journey is different, but for some, the first days of their child’s life bring challenges, uncertainty and time spent in the NICU.
Casey’s daughter was born prematurely at 29 weeks and five days, taking his family on an unexpected journey.
After receiving initial care at SAH and being stabilized, Casey's daughter and wife were transported to a children’s hospital in London, Ontario.
The family spent 28 days in London before Casey's daughter was stable enough to return to SAH’s NICU for the remainder of her stay. After a total of 48 days in the NICU, the family was finally able to go home together.
That experience gave Casey a personal understanding of how important specialized newborn care is for families facing an uncertain start. Now, he hopes his challenge will help ensure other families have access to the equipment and care they need, close to home.
His family’s experience has shown him just how much support matters during an uncertain time. Casey hopes to turn that gratitude into a lasting impact for other families in our community. Helping to ensure they have access to the equipment and care they need, close to home.

Donations toward the NICU support dozens of pieces of equipment. These are just a few examples of previously funded equipment, and how community generosity helps make outstanding care possible.
