Robert & Betty Rushworth win $73,942 in the September SAHF 50/50 Draw
Proceeds from Sault Area Hospital Foundation lottery programs help support the purchase of medical equipment for Sault Area Hospital.
On September 30, Robert and Betty Rushworth of Sault Ste. Marie, ON won a $73,942 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) September 50/50 draw. Their lucky number (S-29376055) was drawn electronically, and they were called immediately.
A rainy fall day in Sault Ste. Marie quickly turned into a memorable one for Robert and Betty. After Robert received the good news, Betty was next on the call list to celebrate. Now, the couple is looking forward to putting their winnings toward a few bills and future travel plans, including a trip to the East Coast.
Robert spent 32 years with the paramedic service, eventually serving as Chief before his retirement, and understands the importance of supporting his community. “It’s important to support our local healthcare, and there’s always a chance of winning,” shared Robert. “But you can’t win if you don’t have a ticket.”
Robert and Betty weren’t the only winner this month – September’s Early Bird, Jacqueline Lafleur of St. Charles, ON, was the lucky $10,000 Early Bird winner on September 17, with ticket S-87219294.
