Lisette Wirta wins $65,225 in the May SAHF 50/50 Draw

Proceeds from Sault Area Hospital Foundation lottery programs help support the purchase of medical equipment for Sault Area Hospital.
On May 29, Lisette Wirta of Sudbury, ON won a $65,225 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) May 50/50 draw. Lisette’s lucky number (M-96786599) was drawn electronically, and she was called immediately.
Lisette has been a longtime supporter of SAHF lotteries. For her, purchasing a ticket is more than just a chance to win, it’s a meaningful way to support local healthcare. “I strongly believe in supporting hospitals in Northern Ontario. It’s important to help ensure that quality healthcare services are available locally for everyone in the North,” she shared.
Recently retired on April 1, 2026, this win came at the perfect time. “This will be a wonderful addition towards my retirement plans,” said Lisette.
When asked what she would say to someone considering buying a ticket, Lisette encouraged them to take part. “Not only are you supporting an important cause for Northern communities, you can’t win if you don’t have a ticket!”
Lisette wasn’t the only winner this month – May’s Early Bird, Scott Morris of Hamilton, ON, was the lucky winner of $10,000 on May 14, with ticket M-43781949.
“Lisette’s win is a wonderful reminder of the importance of local healthcare in the North,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director for Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “Support from people like Lisette continues to help fund critical equipment for our hospital. Tickets for SAHF’s June 50/50 draw are on sale now! Get your tickets before June 17 for a chance to win the $10,000 early bird prize – plus every ticket has a chance at the growing jackpot.
Tickets are 10 for $10; 60 for $20; 200 for $40; or 750 for $75. In addition to online sales at www.soolottery.ca, tickets can be purchased in person at select convenience stores and the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Office (750 Great Northern Road) from 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Ticket buyers must be 18 years of age or older and in the province of Ontario to play.
