Great Food. Great Film. Greater Impact.

On March 27th, in partnership with the Sault College Student Union, their student-run pub Odeno, and the Sault College Culinary Skills – Chef Training Program, Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) is proud to present the inaugural Meals 'N Reels!

Meals ‘n Reels is an immersive dining experience that brings food and film together in a truly memorable way, extending storytelling beyond the screen and onto the plate. While the movie plays, guests are served a multi-course menu inspired directly by the dishes featured in the film, timed to key moments in the story.

For the first Meals 'n Reels, Sault College’s culinary students will be recreating dishes from the 2014 Comedy/Drama film Chef. With a cast that includes Sofia Vergara, Scarlett Johansson, Dustin Hoffman and Robert Downey Jr., Chef follows Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) on a journey of rediscovery after he quits his job as the chef of a prestigious restaurant to launch a food truck business, a venture that reconnects him to his roots and reignites his zest for life.

The evening begins with a vibrant welcome reception featuring Jay Case leading a trio of local musicians performing Cuban and Latin rhythms, cultural dance performances from members of the Northern Ontario Latin-Hispanic Association (NOLHA), and signature cocktails. Over the course of the film, the audience will enjoy a thoughtfully curated, a four-course meal, allowing guests to not just watch Chef, but to savor it--from iconic Cuban sandwiches to vibrant comfort-driven flavors.

“We are thrilled to bring such a unique celebration of creativity, both on the screen and on the plate, to Sault Ste. Marie,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director, Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “Every ticket sold for Meals ‘N Reels helps us to ensure that our local healthcare teams have the equipment needed to provide outstanding care.”

Tickets are $125 each and include the film viewing, four-course meal, a signature drink, and a charitable tax receipt. A cash bar will also be available. The event will take place on March 27th at 6:00 PM at Odeno (in Sault College). This exciting event delivers more than an unforgettable culinary and cinematic experience: all proceeds will go toward purchasing critical medical equipment for Sault Area Hospital.
