Kelly Beharriell wins $61,590 in the August SAHF 50/50 Draw

On August 29, Kelly Beharriell of Sault Ste. Marie, ON won a $61,590 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) August 50/50 draw. Kelly’s lucky number (A-24071025) was drawn electronically, and she was called immediately.
Kelly was shocked to hear the news. “I have been playing the 50/50 draw since the beginning. It’s a great way to support our hospital, but I never thought I would win!” she shared.
Earlier that morning, Kelly mentioned that someone had already “made her day,” but when she received our call, she laughed and admitted that we really did make her day!
After taking the weekend to let the news sink in, she still couldn’t believe her luck and called back to make sure she really was the winner! While she doesn’t have major plans for the winnings just yet, Kelly said the prize has given her the chance to “exhale, breathe, and live a little more worry-free.”
Kelly wasn’t the only winner this month – August’s Early Bird, Kenton Parr of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, was the lucky winner of $10,000 on August 14, with ticket A-17101135.
“Kelly’s words about feeling “worry-free” really capture what these lotteries are all about,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director for Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “Not only does this prize bring peace of mind to winners, but every ticket sold helps keep patients close to home for care. It takes the worry out of traveling for some appointments during difficult times, and that’s something we can all celebrate. We’re so grateful to every ticket buyer, donor, and our generous community who makes this possible.”
Tickets for SAHF’s September 50/50 draw are on sale now! Get your tickets before September 17 at midnight for a chance to win the $10,000 early bird prize – plus every ticket has a chance at the growing jackpot.
Tickets are 10 for $10; 60 for $20; 200 for $40; or 750 for $75. In addition to online sales at www.soolottery.ca, tickets can be purchased in person at the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Office (750 Great Northern Road) from 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Ticket buyers must be 18 years of age or older and in the province of Ontario to play.
