Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF), in partnership with Sault College Student Union, Odeno Pub, and the Sault College Culinary Skills – Chef Training Program, hosted an exceptional Meals ’N Reels dining experience on March 27, bringing food and film together in support of our local hospital.

The evening delivered a one-of-a-kind dining experience, raising funds for critical medical equipment at Sault Area Hospital. Guests were welcomed with hors d'oeuvres, live Cuban and Latin rhythms performed by Jay Case and his trio, as well as Latin dance performances and instruction from the Northern Ontario Latin-Hispanic Association (NOHLA).

As the 2014 Comedy/Drama film Chef played on screen, four delicious courses, including carne asada, mojo pork Cubanos, and beignets with berries and cream, were served with key moments in the film, creating an immersive experience where guests could taste the dishes on the screen.

“We couldn't have asked for a better kick off for Meals 'N Reels! The energy in the room was so electric that guests even began singing along to one of the songs in the movie,” said Teresa Martone, Sault Area Hospital Foundation Executive Director. “The food was exceptional and aligned in flavour and served in sync with the movie. A big thank you to our sponsors, as well as the students and volunteers who gave their time and talent. This event is a reflection of what happens when a community comes together.”

This event would not be possible without the support of Sault College, Sault College Student Union (Odeno Pub), the Sault College Culinary Skills – Chef Training Program, and Northern Ontario Latin-Hispanic Association (NOHLA).
